Ad: Mercedes Benz Left & Right Brain

The text for the left brain reads: “I am the left brain. I am a scientist. A mathematician. I love the familiar. I categorize. I am accurate. Linear. Analytical. Strategic. I am practical. Always in control. A master of words and language. Realistic. I calculate equations and play with numbers. I am order. I am logic. I know exactly who I am.”

And for the right brain: “I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion. Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feat. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I wanted to be.”

photoshop at work

Here is a rare look behind the scenes at poster art work by Martijn-van-Dam, a Dutch graphic designer at Momkai. Even though it’s photoshop, its complexity involved many hours of labor from start to finish.

“This video features a speed up version of creating the illustration I recently did for the new Chameleon flyer and poster. It features an octopus having a go at a ship filled with candy cargo! Everything was done in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and a little bit of Illustrator. I think the total sums up to about 95% Photoshop and 5% illustrator”

Toronto Nuit Blance 2010

.

Toronto’s anual art orgy (Nuit Blanche) caused a street to be shut down with an impomptu dance party, where cars just had to sit and wait it out for hours at Yonge & Dundas (one of the busiest intersections in Canada!) This special night is filled with all different forms of art and culture happening all over the city.

From the installation of the head of a clown in between two buildings to Daniel Lanois‘ live jam session at city hall with video projection all around the city hall square; from being in a crowd at the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) at 3 am to the curious rendition of a Beatles’ song which went from slow to very slow “moving at approximately three frames per second”, we experiences some amazing things while wandering around the Toronto streets for 8 hours!

“The Beauty of Violence is an hommage to Lagerfeld’s latest muse – French model Baptiste Giabiconi. We were at a photo shoot in Lagerfeld’s Paris studio to find out why his latest protegé, 20-year-old Baptiste Giabiconi has become the world’s best-paid male model.”
